MARIA RIA is enveloping voices, edgy synthesizers, minimalist sound design, playful field recordings and powerful basses that give you butterflies in your stomach. In terms of content, with MARIA RIA I give space to the cheeky, the vulnerable and, above all, the playful in me and all of us. With MARIA RIA I am also exploring the content: What does it mean to be a woman in today's society and what can I contribute? In the words of Valie Export I found an answer that now lays the foundation for the album: “The arts can be understood as a medium of our self-definition adding new values to the arts. These values, transmitted via the cultural sign-process, will alter reality towards an accommodation of female needs”
